The entire volume is divided into two blocks: lower (5 ground and 2 underground) and upper (3 floors). The blocks are interconnected by two vertical communications and a transition on the 3rd floor, which connects the new and existing buildings. Also, to simplify communication and create additional places for rest and work, we propose to create an open staircase and terrace on the site of the atrium and pitched roof in the existing building with access to the main staircase from the central facade from Peremoga Avenue. Panoramic glazing will be installed on both sides of the stairs, increasing the amount of natural light in these areas. Thus, we have created 4 independent ways to get into the new building, 3 of which are a direct connection with the existing one.
The building blocks are divided by functionality. The lower block and its underground part are a common room for court staff and staff: a dining room, a hall for receiving delegations, offices of assistants and staff of the court staff, rooms for drivers and security, etc.
60% of the ground floor area was allocated for parking, where we placed 12 parking spaces inside the building and an additional 15 spaces in the open area. Also on the ground floor there are separate stairs leading to the basement and an entrance for unloading kitchen goods.
In the upper block are all the offices of judges and their assistants.
The structure of the building has two fundamentally different schemes. The lower block is a frame made of monolithic reinforced concrete, the upper block is a metal floor covering suspended from a truss with two rigidity trunks - a new block of vertical communications and a reinforced block of vertical communications in the existing building. To increase the area of glazing and natural light inside the upper block made a through hole.
We used two underground floors as storage for the archive, production and storage rooms of the kitchen. The underground unit is connected by technical elevators to the reading room of the archive and the dining room.
